As a parent, you will play a significant role in the level of success your child experiences in kindergarten. Parents' involvement in their child's education is one of the greatest determinants of academic success. Your assistance in reading readiness activities with your child will make a tremendous difference in how quickly your child begins to read. Parents who regularly read aloud to their child greatly increase their child's chance of becoming a successful reader. It is highly recommended that you read at least 15-20 minutes per day with your child.

Kindergartners at Hamtramck Academy will have homework in a variety of subjects, but especially in reading and math. It is important that you help your child establish good homework habits at an early age. This includes a regular time and place to complete homework. It should also be a quiet place away from the distractions of other people, television, and radio. Parental supervision of homework time is essential for students to be successful with their assignments and understand that homework is an important part of the learning process.

Hamtramck Academy offers both a full-day and a half-day kindergarten program.
